What is Osteopathy?

Osteopathy is a manual therapy technique used to stretch, mobilise, reposition, balance and get you back on the move. It is based on the principle that the wellbeing of an individual depends on their bones, muscles, ligaments and connective tissue functioning smoothly together.

Osteopaths look at health in a different way to other practitioners. We provide a comprehensive approach to healing the whole person, rather than only managing the symptoms. We use physical manipulation, stretching and massage, increasing the mobility of joints; relieving muscle tension; enhancing blood supply to tissues and helping your body to heal.

Following an initial assessment, we work in half hour appointments using various different hands-on techniques to help get rid of your pain, always working with the level of manipulation you feel comfortable with. The number of treatments required is specifc to each person, injury and condition but we can give you an estimate of this in the frst consultation.

We also give advice regarding work habits, exercise and possible need for x-rays or other health professional consultation or medical investigations to get you back to good health and flexibility.
